Wine Label Designs

To celebrate their new stadium, KC Current partnered with a local winery to create three new wines served at matches. The wines were canned for better portability and sustainability. My role was to design labels featuring brand-focused imagery with a strong soccer emphasis.

Wine in a can—especially a small 200 ml can, is uncommon. Beyond the main artwork, the label had to accommodate government warnings, ingredients, and a barcode, making space extremely limited. The target audience was premium ticket holders, so the designs needed to balance maturity with the club’s youthful energy.

Process

Early concepts were illustration-heavy, centering a non-descript Current player. Other versions drew from bold, colorful contemporary wine labels. The direction ultimately shifted to a simplified design highlighting the team’s three core colors: teal for Boli, navy for Pinot Grigio, and Heartland Red for the red wine. The final labels integrate the KC Current crest with soccer imagery and the river alongside the stadium.
