KC Current Streetcar
In their third year, KC Current collaborated with KC Streetcar to create a vinyl wrap celebrating the grand opening of CPKC Stadium. This was the first time the club featured players’ images in a design of this type. The vinyl had to maintain at least 30% visible space on exterior windows while working around lights and signage. Elements also needed to flow seamlessly across the three connected cars.
Process
Initial sketches drew on the club’s connection to water and the energy of the Missouri River. I explored embedding players within graphic elements to add depth and visual interest.
External Print Designs
Final designs start with the Bond Bridge, an important KC landmark that stands next to the stadium. An extended three line current flows from the first to third car with subtle light teal lines behind it. The middle car features two different KC Current players on each side.
Seat Decals and Shelters
Inside each car, seats were wrapped with simplified versions of the club’s home and away uniforms, with player names and numbers on the back to help new fans connect with the team. Two shelters along the route also received decals featuring the campaign slogan “KC Baby!”
